Adult Foster Homes
Adult Foster Homes offer care in a home-like setting, often within a residential neighborhood. They provide one or more caregivers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Adult foster homes are approved to care for a maximum of 5 senior or disabled residents at any one time.
Level III Adult Foster Homes are able to provide more complex care because of their training and background. A caregiver may receive instruction from a registered nurse to perform a care task specific to a particular resident. In some cases, providers may be able to meet your care needs if you are coming to the adult foster home directly from the hospital after surgery or you are recovering from a serious illness. Some adult foster home providers have special training to provide care for people with Alzheimer’s disease, some brain injuries, respiratory failure, and can provide Hospice services.
Adult Foster Homes are classified as Level I, II, or III which signifies the degree of care needs their residents can have. Here are some of the services you can expect from every Adult Foster Home:
-
Meals and help with eating
-
Help with dressing
-
Grooming and hygiene
